Baltic artists invited to participate in a juried exhibition of contemporary ceramics

Latvian Centre for Contemporary Ceramics in cooperation with Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre invites Latvian, Lithuanian and Estonian artists to apply for BASICS: Baltic Juried Exhibition of Contemporary Ceramics.

By way of celebrating the Centenary of the Latvian State, “Basics”: Baltic Juried Exhibition of Contemporary Ceramics will be displayed in Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre from 5 July until 8 September 2019. The exhibition and accompanying conference will explore to the formation and development of professional ceramic art in the Baltic States.

Individual artists and artist groups are invited to submit their applications for the exhibition. Each applicant can submit only one artwork created between 2017 and 2019. The proposed artwork cannot be previously exhibited in other juried exhibitions or published in catalogues.

The applications will be judged by a professional jury, which includes Inese Pētersone (Latvia), artist, director of Ceramics Product Design Education Programme in Riga Design and Art School, board member of Latvian Ceramics Association, Pille Kaleviste (Estonia), artist, chairman of Estonian Ceramics Association, Rytas Jakimavičius (Lithuania), artist, professor in Ceramics Department of Vilnius Art Academy, Valentīns Petjko (Latvia), artist, curator, board member of Latvian Centre for Contemporary Ceramics.

Applications must be submitted by 15 April 2019. The results of selection process will be announced by 30 April 2019.

All artwork exhibited in BASICS: Baltic Juried Exhibition of Contemporary Ceramics will be included in the exhibition catalogue. Each participant will receive a copy of the catalogue and certificate of participation.
