Mark Rothko 2026 symposium | Artist presentations

Meet the artists shaping this year’s Mark Rothko 2026 International Painting Symposium! On 22 September, discover the creative voices of ten international artists who are here for a two-week residency in Rothko’s native city.
In a series of short presentations, they will share their artistic journeys, techniques and ideas that guide their practice.
The presentations offer a rare opportunity to engage directly with contemporary painters from across the globe, hear their stories and learn about the diverse approaches and inspirations that connect to Rothko’s legacy.
Featuring Nicole Mueller (USA), Gustavs Filipsons (Latvia), André Hemer (New Zealand/Austria), Weronika Hempel (Poland), Mice Jankulovski (North Macedonia), Rosa Juanco (Spain), Vilen Künnapu (Estonia), Henry Mandell (USA), Peter Maslow (USA) and Emma Velde-Schaffer (New Zealand).
Free admission.
