INTERNATIONAL TEXTILE ART SYMPOSIUM “FORTRESS WALLS”
From November 3 to 13 Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre will host the International Textile Art Symposium “Fortress Walls”.
The symposium will take place in Daugavpils fortress which is characterized not only by historical facts but also by spectacular streets and squares. The architecture of the fortress creates a colourful world and specific atmosphere by the side of the river Daugava. The participants are invited to create unique miniatures of the textile art, inspired by the atmosphere and architecture of Daugavpils fortress. In Daugavpils the symposium will take place for the first time.
In the Textile Art Symposium “Fortress Walls” will participate the following artists: Raija Jokinen (Finland), Ludmila Vasileva (Russia), Helen Sæther (Norway), Ane Vik Eines (Norway), Peteris Sidars (Latvia), Iveta Laure (Latvia), Andra Kurzemniece (Latvia), Jolanta Savvina (Latvia).
In Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre art works created by the textile artists will be displayed from November 14. On November 6 and 7 from 5.00PM to 7:00 PM visitors will have an opportunity to meet participants of the textile art symposium via presentations of their art works.
