Daugavpils about to Host the International Latgale Graphic Art Symposium
1 March through 13 March Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre will host the ninth International Latgale Graphic Art Symposium with ten artists from ten different countries accepted as its participants.
The International Latgale Graphic Art Symposium aims to establish the graphic medium in Daugavpils and promote the name of Latgale on an international scale by continuously attracting new creators who work in the graphic medium and engaging them in artistic activities in this particular region of Latvia.
The 9th International Latgale Graphic Art symposium is organised by Art Teachers’ Association in cooperation with Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre. The symposium is a creative forum for internationally renowned printmakers who can draw inspiration from the urban environment of Daugavpils and produce unique and contemporary graphic art.
The 9th International Latgale Graphic Art Symposium will bring together artists Víctor Manuel Hernández Castillo (Mexico), Irena Lawruszko (Ukraine), Piotr Skowron (Poland), Imants Haņeckis (Latvia), Elisa Pellizzari (Italy), Jevgenija Jones (Lithuania), Lorenzo Davitti (Italy), Kalli Kalde (Estonia), Ioannis Anastasiou (Greece) and Elizabeth Rose (USA).
At 4 p.m. on 4 March the artists will give public presentations at the Rothko Centre, where they will talk about their backgrounds, author techniques and ideas they plan to implement during the symposium.
The symposium will close at 4 p.m. on 13 March with the opening of an exhibition that will showcase the participants’ work created in the course of the symposium.
Admission to artist presentations and exhibition opening is free of charge.
