Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre welcomes exhibition proposals
Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre has designed an application form that enables individual artists, artist groups or curators to submit their exhibition proposals for potential display on the centre’s premises.
Located in the historic artillery arsenal building of Daugavpils Fortress, Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre is a multifunctional hub for contemporary art, culture and education. Along with its permanent display that features original works by Mark Rothko and outstanding pieces from the centre’s extensive art collection, each season comes with new exhibition projects implemented in cooperation with artists and curators from across the globe.
Now more than ever, the art world is deep in a state of planning. While artists create new works, curators draft exhibition concepts and art historians review significant past events in the field, art spaces plan for the future and look forward to their reopening, which is anticipated as a truly festive occasion. Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre also plans to celebrate its reopening, prepares upcoming exhibition seasons and hopes to attract new art projects to be displayed on its premises.
Individual artists, artist groups, curators and exhibition organisers are welcome to submit their exhibition proposals by filling out an application form. No restrictions apply regarding the art media preferred by the candidates. The application form requests essential information about the proposed exhibition, such as its concept, individual works, their number, scale and requested space dimensions. Candidates should also attach appropriate visuals that would enable the centre to assess the artistic qualities of the proposals.
The applications shall be evaluated once a year, at the end of May, assessing the submissions received from the 1st of May, previous year, to the 30th of April, current year. During the first week of June, selection results shall be communicated to the applicants individually.
