Panel discussion about Rothko in Daugavpils is among the opening events of the Centre

Both children of the artist, Kate Rothko Prizel and Christopher Rothko, as well as the vivid personalities of Latvian arts will participate in a discussion, hosted by the DMRAC and the European Commission Representative “Latvia – among the stars. Rothko’s return: Opportunities and Challenges”.

During the discussion, we speak about both, the personality of Mark Rothko and Latgale contribution of Latvian descent in the context of global excellence and Rothko’s creative legacy in private and museum collections in the world. Participants will share their thoughts on the Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre, the importance of the international dimension and the potential development. Among the participants will be art historians Edward Klavins and Ojars Sparitis, one of the authors of the idea about the DMRAC foundation, Farida Zaletilo. The discussion will be leaded by a music critic and newspaper “Diena” cultural department editor Egor Jerohomovich.
