Mark Rothko’s 111th Birthday Celebrations to Start with the Opening of Exhibtion “Digital Phenomenon of Rothko”
The project “From Riga to Daugavpils – by Rothko’s Train” that will take place in the framework of programme of the European capital of culture is devoted to Mark Rothko’s 111th birthday. In Riga and Daugavpils this remarkable event will be widely celebrated and opened with the exhibition “Digital Phenomenon of Rothko” run from September 15 to September 30 at the European Union House Art room (1st floor). The opening of exhibition will be on September 15 at 4.00 PM.
At the EU House the exposition will be in the form of dynamic projection on several displays symbolically rendering projections of the digital exposition in Daugavpils Mark Rohtko Art Centre and providing insight into Rothko Centre exposition. Mark Rothko’s life and creative work will be revealed in the form of visual information found in the dynamic collage.
The visitors of the exhibition will be able to watch the story about famous painter (length: 10 minutes) thuswise creating a bridge between Riga and Daugavpils.
