In the Framework of Mark Rothko’s 111th Birthday Celebrations the Concert of English Composer and Piano-Player James Clarke will be Held

On Tuesday, September 23 at 7:00 PM in Ziedonis hall of Latvian National Library the concert of English composer, piano-player and artist James Clarke will be held where the author himself will be participating. The concert is the part of the series of events devoted to remarkable artist Mark Rothko’s 111th birthday celebrations in the framework of European capital of culture “Riga 2014”.

During this concert the chamber band specially created for this event and led by the conductor Mārtiņš Ozoliņš will perform James Clarke’s opuse Untitled No.1. In 2007 the song premiere took place at Klangforum in Wien and it is tightly bound with creative work of Mark Rothko. Moreover, the unique composition 2014-N specially made for this event will be premiered. When describing programme of the concert the composer emphasizes “I would like to let the music speak for itself and avoid to use describing categories (also titles)”. Before the concert it is planned that the composer will give an introductory speech.
   
On September 23 admission to the concert in Ziedonis hall is for free upon presentation of invitations that are available from September 19 in the registration office of Latvian National Library on work days from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM and on the weekends from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and on the concert day. Registered participants of the conference
“Abstract Expressionism: the Language of Emotions” (September 23) will receive free invitations in registration office of the conference.
