Summer exhibition season opening
At the very height of summer, at 16:00 7 July, the new summer exhibition season will be opened at Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre, by showcasing both local and international artistic projects.
Traditionally, during summer exhibition season, Daugavpils Mark Rothkko Art Centre continues to set the bar for quality artistic experience, by offering its visitors local and international artistic projects. The new season will surprise with a variety of media – by exhibiting projects in painting, graphic art, glass art and photography.
From 7 July a retrospective of the outstanding Israeli artist Moshe Kupferman will highlight the constancy of the artist’s style and celebrate his contribution to Israeli cultural space as the master of both abstract painting and graphic art.
Two Latvian photography projects – “In the Light by Andris Zēgners and “Sword Lilies” by Iveta Vaivode, are stories of current topics in Latvian photography and of the differences in both authors’ work.
A strong and internationally approbated claim is made by Marta Ģibiete with her glass art project, which captures the artists’ virtuosity and creative flair in a translucent and fragile material.
The body of work by Maija Dragūne, a distinguished graphic artist, gives centre stage to the graphic medium, calling attention to its continuity and significance in artistic development in general.
The solo exhibition “Feeder” by Artūrs Bērziņš throws a spark or even creates turmoil around current events by telling a story of today, both directly and allegorically, in paintings and installations.
The summer season exhibitions are available until 10 September.
From 16:00 till 17:00 7 July, all new exhibitions will be open to the public free of charge.
The event is supported by Daugavpils City Council, State Culture Capital Foundation, Caparol, Devona, Valmiermuiža and the Israeli Embassy.
