Ceramic Laboratory 2026

Exhibition of the 14th International Ceramic Art Symposium
For fourteen years, the Ceramic Laboratory symposium has transformed the Daugavpils Fortress into a living creative laboratory, bringing artists together through a shared space, time and material that shape the rhythm of the residency. Its distinctive environment – historic architecture, an intense pace of collaborative work and the technical resources of the Latvian Centre for Contemporary Ceramics – becomes a platform where radically different artistic approaches can meet.
The final exhibition presents works created during the symposium’s three-week residency by fifteen professional ceramic artists. Rather than functioning as a collective display, it reveals a layered spectrum of contemporary ceramics: from spatial installations and experiments in form to painterly surfaces and precisely modelled structures. The participants worked in remarkably different directions, revealing the breadth and diversity of the ceramic medium when shaped by strong artistic identities.
